the icon meme--Hardboiledbaby tagged me--cause I begged. She picked these five icons.
Here are the instructions:
1. Reply to this post saying "ME! ME! ME!", and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

Ah, my boys. My first real loves, I was thirteen and Here Come the Brides had just ended, which was the first series I ever really watched. And I loved westerns, so ASJ was perfect for me. It was the first series I wrote fic for (terrible, awful Mary Sue type h/c). Fastfoward to 1999 and I discover zines, the internet and begin writing ASJ stories again. Fastforward to '08 and I discover a whole new group of friends who love Kid and Heyes. Bliss. Georgiegirl made this pretty picture.

Hutch's infamous finger. I love his intense expression and those blue eyes. I always considered myself a Starsky girl, but Hutch in a black turtleneck is fine. This was created by shfan.

This is what I really, really wish I looked like in a corset. 'Cause I love corsets. I do. And it hints at my kinkier side. Enednoviel made it for me.

It took me a long time to fall for Doyle and Bodie, but I persisted on and off for several years until I watched Hunter/Hunted and Discovered in a Graveyard and fell hard. Wrote my first fic only a month or so later. Doyle's my guy-- in those shades with the jacket over his shoulder--sigh. Bodie ain't too shabby either, he just looks disheveled here. Sunray created this one.

I have a particular fondness for the Muppets actually voiced by Jim Henson--Kermit, Dr. Teeth and my true love, Rowlf the dog. I don't know what it is about him, but a dog who plays the piano and puns through life was made for me. I even have a tea cup shaped like Rowlf and a Christmas tree ornament. Laura McEwan gave me this one.

In California, at least. I love the Spring flowers--I bought a little pot a year ago with a few bulbs of different flowers all together, and it actually bloomed again this year! Amazing. I was so proud of my single hyacinth and then my favorite of all--a purple crocus. Now today, I've noticed that the daffodil is just emerging from it's bud. And the sun is shining, it's not raining (yet). It's a gorgeous day.

I found the picture I have been looking for! This is dated August 1972 (which means I am fifteen.) Although Little Joe was rather wooden, and on the whole, a bit flat, I was so happy to pose with his cardboard cutout, if I couldn't have the real thing. We were in Nevada, at the Ponderosa Ranch, which not really where they filmed Bonanza, just a tourist attraction. What always impressed me about this picture is that the very dry desert air had straightened out my normally curly hair!

Fandom STARSKY AND HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Length: 10,400 words

Why this must be read: I've read probably every one Pepper's stories since the very first one, and I've had the priviledge of editing many, many of her stories. She has an amazing sense of detail, especially for the minor characters, although she doesn't neglect Starsky and Hutch--her characterization is spot on. Here, Starsky discovers the aftermath of Gunther's shooting has brought something more than just a slow recovery.
excerpt: Those two people may have even been strangers, but in the end, there was a need for human connection, a desire not to go it alone. The line they crossed was taken while gripping the hand of another, holding onto life if even just for a few more seconds.

Why thismustbe read: Salieri dazzles with her words, coming up with unique and incredible phrases that make me wish I could write half as good. I can always see her scenes so clearly, like technicolor movies. Here, it's the little things that matter, when Hutch comes across a battered, shell-shocked girl and gets more than he bargained for. Luckily, Starsky is right beside him.

In the late '70s, at the same time as Starsky and Hutch and The Professionals, there was a British series that ran under the Mystery! umbrella on PBS. I fell hard for Sid Halley, ex-steeplechase jockey and now detective with one hand, and his cockney partner Chico Barnes. I don't think enough people know about this series. There were only 6 filmed, and I just got the DVD set for Christmas, after loaning out my earlier one and losing it. So, I am back in the love of Racing Game.
If you don't know Sid and Chico, I urge you to go out and read Dick Francis' books Odds Against, which introduces the pair, and Whiphand, considered one of the best, if not the best, of his 35 (or more) books. There are two other Sid Halley books, without Chico, but I consider them inferior. lol. Actually, I urge any mystery novel fan to read any of Dick Francis' books.
The series started out from a reworked Odds Against and used bits and pieces from many of his other novels for the episodes, in some cases, making the stories more coherent.
My great good friend Suzinsf25 made me both screen grabs and icons (bless her), so that I could look at the pretty. I'll have to get her to trim off the edge of her computer, but that's a minor thing!

Chico Barnes (Mick Ford) Chico fixing Sid Halley's (Mike Gwilym) tie.
This series has it all--buddy banter, slashy goodness, both of them get hurt--and for the horse fans amongst you--lots of horse racing, and in one ep, a colt being born.
I just realized I didn't identify which is which, so I put their names under the pictures.

Starsky apparently likes the series Fastlane--and not even the main characters of Deaq and Van but Dre (Vondie Curtis-Hall), who's dead in this ep! Actually, Starsky watches most series like that.
This is the view off my back balcony. It may not be Minnesota, but for Marin Co, California, which is at sea level, this is cold! It actually snowed at many higher elevations in the last two days, and not just in the local mountains.
